Large 4to (297x225 mm), (4)-59-(1) pages et 30 planches hors texte. Lack of two plates ("Une femme sortant du bain" by Robert-Fleury and "Portraits" by Alophe). binding : Contemporary half calf, spine gilt in five compartments lettered in gilt. A gilded vegetal medallion with the inscription "Cercle des Arts" is placed in the centre of the front cover. Caps and corners chipped. An important lack of paper on each cover. One splitting joint but solid. A waterstain on the lower corner of first pages.

The Salon was the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Between 1748 and 1890, it was arguably the greatest annual or biennial art event in the Western world.
